On December 19th is our Third Annual Sip and Shop, which has become a holiday tradition at Peterson's. This is the day we have a wide variety of samples available. The Rt 59 and Gartner store will be sampling not only wine, but also spirits and microbrews. Take a break from shopping and come taste some great holiday drinks.

On December 12th is our Annual Holiday Port Tasting at all 3 stores from 1-5pm. This tasting can be very educational if you are not quite sure what makes a Tawny Port different from a Ruby Port you will know upon leaving this tasting.
The different style of Ports we will be sampling will include Vintage, 10 yr and 20 yr Tawny, Colheita, LBV, and Ruby. Ports make a great gift so come take advantage of the 15% discount on all Ports on Dec 12 only. All 3 stores will have a different selection of Ports open.

About Ernie Banks
Probably the most popular player in the history of the Chicago Cubs franchise, Ernie Banks was the best power-hitting shortstop in baseball in the 1950s and early 1960s. His enthusiasm for the game of baseball was legendary. Baseball fans will always remember him as the ballplayer who said, "What a great day for baseball. Let's play two!" For 19 years, Ernie Banks delighted Wrigley Field fans with his long and frequent home runs, with his steady fielding and with his cheerful disposition. Cubs' fans affectionately refer to Ernie Banks as "Mr. Cub", for his years of dedicated service to their team. He belted 512 home runs, five times hitting over 40 in a single season. Banks smashed a record five grand slams in 1955 and his 47 round-trippers in 1958 are the most ever hit by a shortstop. Ernie Banks has career totals of 512 home runs, good for 12th on the all-time list, with 1636 RBI, 1305 runs scored, 2583 hits with a .274 lifetime average. Banks came to the majors directly from the Negro Leagues, appearing late in the 1953 season, starting full-time in 1954. Banks hit 40 or more home runs five times in his career, winning two MVP awards in the process. His first MVP came in 1958, as he hit .313, with league-leading totals of 47 homers and 129 RBI. He won the award again in 1959, leading the league in RBI again, as well as fielding percentage. Banks was named to 11 All-Star teams in his career.
Following his retirement in 1971, Ernie Banks was active as a minor league instructor in the Cubs system. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1977. His uniform No. 14 was the first retired by the Cubs organization and currently flies on game days from the left field foul pole.

You do not have to live in the White Eagle development to come to this tasting.
This is a Reservation Only Event but you can invite your friends. However, each person attending will require reservations in advance. All reservations will be held by a credit card and 24 hours prior to the event, your credit card will be charged.
Reservations are required. The cost per Person is $20. We will have 60 premium wines open for tasting including paired appetizers. The event will be held at the White Eagle Owners Club in the White Eagle Golf Club Development. The event will be hosted by Peterson Spirits and Fine Wines and will be conducted as an open house so you can come at your leisure. The Champagne Reception will only be from 6:00 - 6:30 pm.

About Valdivieso Winery
Valdivieso is one of the longest established names in Chilean winemaking, with the first release of Valdivieso wines being in 1887. In recent years international sales of Chilean wines have begun to take off, and Valdivieso has exploited this new market with a wide range of varietal and single vineyard reserve wines from their Lontué and Maipo vineyards. Valdivieso has also introduced a premium non-vintage wine called Caballo Loco, meaning ‘Crazy Horse.’ Jorge Coderch, is the winemaker behind Caballo Loco and has essentially introduced a solera system, similar to that used in the production of sherry, to produce a sequence of non-vintage premium wines designated by numbers.

David Oland, chef and proprietor of David’s on Jefferson Hill will be preparing a 5 course dinner paired with many of Valdivieso’s Single Vineyard selections, their Extra Sparkling Brut and of course, the Caballo Loco #9. For those of you not familiar with David’s he is located on Jefferson Avenue downtown Naperville in the coach house of the Historic Jefferson Hill Mansion. David is an awarding winning chef with 22 years of experience. David’s features a European influenced menu, combining modern interpretations of French, Spanish and Italian cuisine. The restaurants recent accolades include Chicago Magazines “Hot List” of the Ten Hottest Restaurants to dine in 2008.
