Celebrate Mom and Everything Rosé
Saturday, May 13: 1-5pm @ Gartner and Chicago Avenue stores

As we gear up for one of the BEST holidays of the year (wink wink), why not consider bringing mom to one of our stores for an afternoon of rosé wine tasting! Before you start thinking rosé is the stuff you were coerced into drinking back in the day when you couldn't afford anything better, JUST STOP RIGHT THERE!

Did you know that true rosé wine is actually dry, not sweet? Some of the best rosé is found in France, Spain or California and is the result of a winemaking process where the skins are kept intact until just after crush giving the wine a pinkish hue. This tedious process delivers a dry product that resembles the body of a red while providing the crispness and minerality of a white. Learn more and taste our collection of rosés Saturday, May 13th at our Chicago Ave. and Gartner Rd. stores!

#1) 2015 Left Coast, White Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon

Left Coast Cellars 100% White Pinot Noir engages the senses with spiced pear, cardamom, peach, citrus pith, honey & straw aromas. Honey, citrus and orange blossom coat the palate. Considerable depth with a mineral/slate finish.

#2) 2015 Dry Creek Vineyards, Heritage Vines Zinfandel, Sonoma, California

The 2015 Heritage Vines Zinfandel is delicious and beautifully balanced. This vintage presents enticing aromatics of raspberries, cherry and a hint of toast and black pepper. On the palate, brambly flavors of ripe boysenberry and spicy dark chocolate come forward. The wine is complex, with bright acidity complimented by notes of berry syrup and mocha. The tannins are silky and smooth to lend a round, rich mouthfeel. From start to finish, this remarkable wine offers refreshing acidy paired with excellent structure.

#3) 2015 Mas de la Dame, Rosé, Provence, France

Mas de la Dame, or "farm of the lady" is owned by Anne Poniatowski and Caroline Missoffe who, together with consultant Jean-Luc Colombo, the most influential winemaker in the Rhone Valley, have redefined the potential of this ancient terroir. Each step of this rosé is handled with the utmost precision including hand harvesting, vinification done at low temperatures and grapes that are certified organic and vinified using only sustainable processes.  Notes of fresh strawberries, peaches and roses make this the most enjoyable wine to welcome Spring!

#4) 2015 Kendall Jackson, Vintner’s Reserve Pinot Gris, California

The Vintner's Reserve Pinot Gris wine is blended with a touch of the Rhône varietals – Marsanne and Viogner, along with Chardonnay and Albariño, which contribute layers of richness as well as a subtle floral note. Stainless steel fermentation retains Pinot Gris’ vivid fruit qualities and bright, juicy texture, enhancing the pear, honeydew and tangerine flavors inherent to the grape

#5) 2013 Ramon Bilbao Limited Edition, Rioja Alta, Spain

Intense ruby red with hints of black-cherry color. High intensity on the nose, with a perfect balance of dark fruit and oak. The spicy nuances of black pepper, cloves, and cumin meld with clean wood aromas and notes of cocoa, dry tobacco leaves, and mint. Smooth, fruity mouth-feel with a long finish and pleasant, polished tannins.

#6) 2015 Anton Bauer Gmörk Gruner Veltliner, Austria (Wine Enthusiast 90pts)

“Notes of crisp green pear and crunchy red apple are very appetizing, the palate is fresh and echoes these flavors and edges them with some spice and alcoholic heat, but also has a drive and energy of its own. Friendly and very moreish.”

#7) 2012 Ramon Bilbao Crianza, Rioja Alta, Spain

Ruby red with some signs of youth in the form of violet hues. Medium intensity aromas of fresh dark fruit like blackberries and black currants accompanied with hints of licorice. It is clean and bright on the palate with pleasant flavors of vanilla, cinnamon sticks, and wild herbs.

#8) 2013 Jailbreak, Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina

A robust and juicy Malbec with aromas of violet and striking flavors of ripe berries and spice.

#9) 2014 OZV Oak Ridge Winery, Zinfandel Blend, California

The wine is created with great complexity of fruit and a long, lingering finish. OZV Red Blend is a luscious blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet, Petite Sirah and Merlot.

#10) 2014 Whoop Whoop, Shiraz, South Australia

“Inky purple. Fresh blackberry and cherry-cola aromas are complicated by suggestions of licorice, woodsmoke and cracked pepper. Plush and gently sweet, offering supple dark fruit flavors and a subtle floral nuance. Fleshy and energetic on the gently tannic finish, which features notes of sweet dark fruit and peppery spices.” Josh Raynolds, 90pts Vinous
