Okay, so maybe you love trying new wines, but there is something about the Cabernet and/or Chardonnay varietal that make it hard to deny your profound loyalty to these grapes. It's okay, we understand, and we don't blame you. There is a reason why these two varietals have taken over the wine world and why they have become a standard on every wine list, every household fridge and makeup a huge portion of our wine stores. Stay tuned for next week's email as we unveil 12 of our most loved Cabernets and Chardonnays and come taste for yourself what you will be drinking this holiday season.

Blended wines are always an area of conversation for wine enthusiasts, especially when it comes to unlikely blends or the backend story of how a blend came to be. It's amazing how many factors influence a blend and how each and every percentage of a varietal added can make a big or small impact. This also happens to be the fun part of being a winemaker and where enthusiasts get to indulge in the artistry of wine. How well do you know your blends and to what degree can you decipher a blended wine's secret code?

Join us for an epic tasting with wines perfect for your next holiday gathering. Included in our lineup is the Schug Chardonnay, Prieure De Montezargues Rose, Pali Huntington Pinot Noir, Ricasoli Chianti, Classico, Browne Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and Glunz Tawny Port.


It's no secret that the boom in craft and artisan spirits is on the rise and as consumers, we're benefiting from it. As a retailer, it is our job to bring these amazing products to the shelf and educate our customers on the background and stories of how, where and why these spirits came to fruition. In just a few short weeks, Peterson's will be hosting a two-day tasting series with Master Mixologists from Winebow and Legacy Spirits as they unfold the stories of each. Our mixologists will showcase a unique set of products each day from these award-winning distilleries all around the world.
 

Friday, December 4: 5-8pm@ Peterson’s Chicago Avenue store


High West is a craft distillery from Park City, Utah that specializes in rare whiskies.

Kinahan’s Irish Whiskey was founded in 1779 in Dublin, Ireland. Kinahan’s has made it their mission to bring back the Irish-Whiskey movement and following their original famous recipe.

Long Island Spirits is the first distillery on Long Island. Known for their vodka’s, they recently began creating head-turning darker spirits such as the Rough Rider, a high-rye, straight bourbon.

Tullibardine is one of the oldest brewers and scotch distillers of Scotland.  It was at Tullibardine in 1488, that the young King James the 4th of Scotland stopped on his way to his coronation, to purchase beer from the local brewery making it the first publically recorded purchase of an alcoholic beverage in the nation.
Jacob Rieger & Company was founded in 1887 in Kansas City. The brand offered over 100 products and maintained a quarter of a million unique customers by offering mail-order delivery services. In 1919, Prohibition was enacted which temporarily put a hold on production. 95 years later, Jacob Rieger & Co. is back!

BroVo is a line of “lady made liqueurs” from Seattle, Washington. They’re lightly proofed and very lightly sweetened botanical liqueurs. They’re low-calorie, challenging and complex on the palate, and craft-produced at a local level.

Koval Distillery of Chicago, Illinois, creates organic spirits from scratch and is known for their signature whiskey style- using only the "heart" cut of the distillate - affording a brighter, cleaner take on whiskey.

Breckenridge Distillery is not only the world’s highest distillery located in Breckenridge, Colorado, but these guys are producing, award-winning whiskey and vodka that has everyone in Colorado talking.

Brinley Gold Shipwreck Rum of St. Kitts Island in the Caribbean is hands down, the best rum we’ve tasted. Priced right and unprecedented high-quality, you can’t find better spiced, flavored or aged rums anywhere!

Blaum Brothers Distilling Co. is located in historic Galena, where they have earned the reputation of the #1 tourist attraction. Famous for their Lead Mine Moonshine, epic Gin and Vodka, this distillery has all of our customers talking.

Whiskey Acres Distilling Co. of Dekalb, Illinois is known for their farmcrafted Corn Whiskey and Apple flavored Whiskey. Grown from the finest grain, handcrafted and distilled on their fifth generation family farm, this distillery is just a stone's throw away.


Tasting with Doug Cass, Owner of Cass Winery in Paso Robles
Friday, November 20th:  6-9pm @ Chicago Avenue

We always love when Doug Cass comes to town to share his wines. Now rivaling parts of Napa, Paso Robles is gaining steam and creating waves all around. Find out what’s so great about this Southern California wine region and why Cass continues to be a top performer at all Peterson stores. Some Cass favorites on the tasting menu will include: Cass Marsanne, Cass Viognier, Cass Grenache, Cass Mouvedre and Cass Cabernet.


Vibrant Rioja Featured Tasting
Nov. 14 from 1-5pm @ Peterson's Gartner Rd. store

Help us celebrate International Tempranillo Day (11/12) all week long. Rioja, Spain is an international sensation and one of the top leading wine regions in the world. Join us Saturday, November 14th with Carrie Schuster, as she tastes some of our favorite tempranillo-based Riojas.
